(TLA) FOR AIR FORCE PERSONNEL IN HAWAII
Who Is Eligible
No rank requirement. Single SM based on SURF qualifications. SM with command sponsored dependents.
*You’re not required to stay in Air Force installation lodging. Choose/Switch to TLA authorized hotels in Honolulu by simply obtaining a Statement of Non-availability from on-post lodging. *

*All newcomers check-in with Hickam Housing Management office to enroll in TLA brief. All required documents will be assigned at TLA brief.
Rules

If permanent housing is not secured within 60 days, military members are required to report to the MHO every 15 days for recertification of TLA.

TLA is not intended, and must not be allowed to be used, for the personal enrichment of a member by extending TLA allowances for other than the purpose intended.

Disciplinary action addressed in par. U1055 applies when TLA allowances are used for inappropriate reasons.
How to Renew
For TLA entitlements to be extended for the next 15 day period, you must be actively seeking adequate housing.
The MHO requires a list of the housing units visited and the reason why they were not acceptable.
